THE PERFECT BIKE FOR DIRTY WEATHER
Isn’t every Pinion bike the perfect bike for the wet and cold season? Basically yes, because the advantages of the closed shifting unit are at least as convincing in autumn/winter as in dry, dusty conditions. As is well known, the gearshift is one of the most sensitive, but also most high-maintenance parts on the bike. So it’s good when the drivetrain – as in the case of Pinion – hardly cries out for attention. If then also the overall concept of the bike fits, then nothing prevents carefree winter riding!
Since the use of a Pinion bike differ significantly and there is something suitable for every rider type, topography and region, we present a small selection of different bike types. Which one is your favorite?

HANDMADE WITH LOVE
PORTUS GRAVKARL
Born in the Black Forest. A lot of craftsmanship went into Grav Karl, the gravel bike from the German frame builder Portus Cycles around Alexander Clauss. With the 12-speed Pinion transmission, Gates belt drive and the Columbus Zona tube set made of steel, the bike is certainly no guarantee for lightweight design, but sustainable and weatherproof! The geometry, which accepts either a suspension fork or a rigid fork, Grav Karl is a faithful and unobtrusive companion for the city, loose ground and long adventures in bikepacking mode.

FUN MACHINE FOR ROUGH TERRAIN
NICOLAI ARGON AM PINION
This custom-made mountain bike is the winter bike of trail coach & bike instructor Ramsay MacFarlane. He manages a mountain bike school in Scotland and knows what is important for his job: a solid frame, reliable parts and as little maintenance and care as possible. The manufacturer Nicolai offers an online configurator for all its bike models, with the help of which you can put together your individual dream bike! This model is the Argon AM (=All Mountain) Pinion.

THE DAILY DRIVER
TOUT TERRAIN BLUERIDGE XPLORE
From the beginning, the German manufacturer Tout Terrain has dedicated itself to one goal: To design touring bikes that can take on the toughest challenges – whether steep climbs, fully loaded with luggage, or the most difficult riding conditions with changing terrain and weather. What proves itself on a great journey also works in everyday life. The Blueridge Xplore is the classic touring bike from Tout Terrain on 28″ wheels. It also comes with modern features such as a very sturdy pannier rack. Customers can choose from numerous equipment options: starting with the color, the handlebar type, ergonomic features to the matching Pinion transmission.

THE ALLROUNDER
NICOLAI ARGON GX PINION
Just in time for the start of the off-season Nicolai presented its latest development. The Argon GX Pinion is based on the typical Nicolai geometry, so is long, comes with a flat steering angle and a long tail. To cover a wide range of use and make the bike suitable for year-round use, Nicolai equipped the model with the carefree drive unit consisting of Pinion gearbox and Gates belt drive. Thanks to many detailed solutions on the frame such as mounting points for racks and mudguards, the slim gravel bike can also be quickly converted into a versatile bikepacking bike!

5. URBAN eBIKE

THE AVANT-GARDIST
SCHINDELHAUER ARTHUR VI/IX
Less is more: The Arthur VI/XI is a modern urban eBike. In keeping with typical Schindelhauer style, the bike goes its own way and convinces purists with its reduced design. However, the features are anything but reduced. For example, all the technology is integrated: The battery sits in the down tube, the motor is placed in the rear hub and shifting is done centrally with Pinion. Hardly noticeable is the StVZO-compliant lighting integrated into the seatpost or handlebars. Note for more everyday comfort: Simply mount the stand and luggage rack!

6. RACE HARDTAIL

LIGHTWEIGHT & FAST
QUANTOR KOHLENSTOFF
Anyone who rides a road bike in summer and occasionally takes part in endurance races doesn’t mothball their bike in the winter. On the contrary: true to the motto “champions are made in winter”, racers sit in the saddle all year round. Even then they attach importance to the fact that the bike is not too heavy and are happy after a challenging training ride that the bike does not have to be meticulously cleaned and maintained thanks to closed gear unit!
