The Pinion MGU unites a wear-free, brushless full-power electric motor and Pinion’s industry-leading gearbox with up to 12 speeds in a compact package the size and weight of ordinary e-bike mid-engine motors with separate transmissions. Actuated through electronic shifting and powered by Pinion’s own hard- and software, it’s the heart and soul of a completely new drive system for e-bikes.

The quality of the shifts of the MGU is far superior to other systems in terms of shifting under load and the speed of the gear change thanks to the integrated nature of the system as well as the fact that the hardware and software were developed specifically towards each other.
SMART.SHIFT
FUNCTIONS
Pre.Select allows the system to automatically shift into the perfect gear for your speed when coasting downhill, providing you with the right gear to get back onto the pedals without having to frantically shift up or down first.
And then there is Start.Select. When you, for example, stop at a traffic light, the MGU can automatically shift into a preselected starting gear – no more trying to awkwardly get your bike going in the wrong gear.


UNMATCHED RELIABILITY
10,000 KM MAINTENANCE FREE
The whole system is contained in a closed and sealed housing that keeps dust, mud and water out, cleaning and maintaining the bike is enormously easy, especially when equipped with a belt drive that doesn’t need to be greased or lubricated.
The Pinion E-Drive System is therefore extremely durable whilst wear on the drive system is extremely low due to the elimination of external shifting components. The maintenance interval? A 10-minute oil-change after 10,000 km. That’s it. Really.

We made sure to have strong partners on board right from the very beginning of the MGU’s development process. Thanks to FIT as our system integration partner, we can now offer customers an incredible amount of modularity as well as a proven and reliable service infrastructure. The FIT ecosystem features a whole variety of sleek control elements and displays that can be combined in a variety of ways to create a truly custom cockpit tailored to the intended use.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS
AN APP THAT CONNECTS EVERYTHING
The unique FIT Key Card is the entry ticket into the digital world of any Pinion-powered ebike. The induvial ID utilizes the ABUS SmartX-Technology and provides a secure connection with the bike through a unique key. Scanning the QR-code with the E-Bike Control App also unlocks handy additional functions.
In addition to offering the option to adjust and fine-tune functions and values like power output, power onset, power delivery and all Smart.Shift functions, the app also offers easy and clear explanations to guide the user in the tuning process.


SYSTEM COMPONENTS
HUMAN MACHINE INTERFACE.
The various options for remotes with their backlight buttons are intuitive, easy to use, can be operated without taking the hand of the handlebars and also feature the option of an integrated display. Vibrations give riders subtle but distinctly noticeable haptic feedback that rises in intensity with the bike’s speed.
